Not Always What it Seems

I’m sure most of you have seen the video Kony 2012 that has been making the rounds on the internet.  If not, here it is:   Now be warned, it is 30 minutes long but it is also an interesting watch.

O watched it this morning and I was a little suspicious about it.  It seemed to be just a tad to preachy for lack of a better word.  I had planned to do a little more research on the topic and the charity Invisible Children Inc.  when I stumbled across this breakdown that saved me about two hours of work.  The Daily What does a pretty good job of giving all sides of this public phenomenon.

I’m not saying what you should support and what you shouldn’t but one thing I do know is that your money may be better served put into some more reputable charities.

  1. If you want to give any of your money to a charity, do yourself a favor and first go to guidestar.org and check out that charity’s tax return so you can see just how much donated money that the charity is actually giving back.
