Super Bowl XLV

So way back in September I wrote my 2010 football preview entry.  As you can see, it wasn’t that to far off.  If you read the article, you’ll have a pretty good idea where I am going with this.

I fully expect this to be one of the better Super Bowls we’ve seen over the past quarter century.  The Pack and the Steelers are more similar than one might think.  Great QB’s, outstanding LB’s, weak O-lines, good young coaches and deep, rich traditions.

I am a firm believer in riding the hot team that peaked at the right time like my 2008 G-men.  The Packers overcame a boat load of injuries( 16 guys on season-ending IR) and Aaron Rodgers has proven he is one of the true elite QB’s in the game.  Green Bay has discovered a little running game that has made the air attack that much more dangerous.  The only thing that has stopped the passing game is the Green Bay wideouts who have a knack of dropping passes at the wrong time.  If the Steelers have a weakness on D, it is their secondary, especially the corners.  I don’t see a low scoring affair.

The Steelers have just done what everyone expects them to do.  Run run run, let the defense establish their dominance than lean on Big Ben to make the big play when needed.  That formula has worked for two Super Bowl wins the past seven years.  Fans may think it’s boring, but winning never gets boring, no matter how it comes about trust me.   A lot has been made about the Steelers running game and their stout defense but I think their RB is just average and their secondary is prone to the spread passing attack of teams.  It’ll be tough to run on Green Bay’s front seven so the Steelers will have to rely on the right arm of Roethlisberger.  He’ll get them close, but not close enough.

Green Bay 33  Pittsburgh 27.

Enjoy the game!!!

  1. Analyses can be interesting but fans go by the gut … Go Steelers!

Excellent analysis and a highly accurate score prediction. Well done!

  3. The path wasn t easy at all and their difficult road to the Super Bowl may well help them in this huge game. The Steelers defense will have their hands full with this unit..The Packers were solid on offense this year but it was really their defense that led the way.
