Lets Get it On!!!!

All right, here we go!!

The unofficial second half of the season kicks off tonight and it should be a great finish to the season.  All six division races are wide open.  I mean eight-lane freeway kind of wide, with tons of room for movement.  Even the wildcard races are air tight.

Trades are going to play such a huge impact this season.  We’ve already seen two with Cliff Lee going to the Rangers and Alex Gonzalez heading to Hot-lanta.  I expect to see some more big arms and big bats change zip codes in the coming weeks and I fully expect the three teams in the AL East to be in on most of them.  (sorry, Baltimore and Toronto just don’t count)

Of course the biggest moves will be made by one team.  This team is getting not one, not two, but three all-star players and a top-of-the-rotation stud by the trading deadline.  These four players will help bolster a roster that has guided this team to one of the best records in the league.  Did ya get it yet???  If you guessed the Olde Towne Team from Boston, you win!!!  Now pat yourself on the back and get back to reading.

These essentially will be trades without giving up anyone.  Pedroia, Martinez and Buchholz were red-hot when they got hurt and all three are expected shortly.  Beckett should be back within a week and even though his numbers weren’t great this season, his presence at the top of the rotation makes such a difference.  Honestly, I think I’ll live with him instead of the knuckleballer.  Name me anyone else that is getting back a #2 hitter, #3 hitter and a #2 and #3 starter?  The fact that the Sox have done it with smoke and mirrors this past month and STILL have the third best record in the bigs is a huge testament to Tito and Theo.  The only crappy thing is the two team with the best two records in baseball lie in their division.

I don’t think that the Yankees or the Rays are going away anytime soon so the Red Sox have their work cut out for them.  Lets not forget that just two weeks ago, the Sox were a 1/2 game out of first.  I think the schedule is manageable and the offense will continue to be great.  The one thing that worries me is that bullpen but I have a hunch that help is on the way.  It wouldn’t be a July if Theo didn’t acquire some ‘pen help.

Now that all the World Cup drama is over and the Heat are done hijacking the NBA news, we can all focus on some baseball.

Buckle up, it should be a helluva ride.

Oh yea, BTW:  LETS GO SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!
