Dirty Laundry

I am a big proponent of keeping things in house.  No one needs to know all the dark inner workings of your life.  Whether it is a home issue, work stuff, etc. keep it between the relative parties.  Now, by all means, if it is  something even remotely humorous, please share.  Otherwise zip it.

This stems from the Dice-K/Red Sox tiff that sprouted up yesterday(I know, shocking a baseball tie-in!)  Dice felt it prudent to throw the Sox coaches and trainers down the stairs during a recent interview with a Japanese reporter.  He claimed his lack of success this season stems from the Sox not letting him condition like he did in Japan.  Of course it had nothing to do with the fact he came into camp looking like he trained for sumo wrestling instead of baseball.

You see, Dice likes to throw.  A lot.  He thinks that throwing a ton keeps his shoulder strong, and yes it may.  The Sox have done all they can to embrace his Japanese way.  Really, they have bent over backwards to make him comfortable.  To bash the teams training techniques is simply, in a word, ludicrous.  Ask Schilling, Penny, Smoltz, Beckett, Lester, Papelbon, yada yada yada.  The list goes on and on with pitchers who have benefited from the Sox’s shoulder strengthening program.

I have always been a defender of Dice.  I loved the signing and I still think it can be worked out for both sides.  It is time for him to drop all this nationalistic pride stuff and embrace the American way of doing baseball.  Train over here and live over here(novel idea considering he is getting paid over here!!!!)  Screw pitching for Japan in the WBC.  You are a Boston Red Sox and a Major League baseball player.  Your time in Japan got you paid now it’s his time in the bigs that will define how he’ll be remembered.

So Dice, shut your pie hole, do yor rehab and get back to the team.  A rotation of Beckett, Lester, Dice, and Halladay will be devastating next year.

Yup, you read that right.  🙂

I totally agree on keeping family, work and personal issues “in house”. As far as anything to do with the Red Sox all i can say is “No Comment”.
