Manny, Manny, Manny.

The hits keep on coming.  Manny Ramirez was re-introduced as a Dodger yesterday ending one of the most ridiculous free-agent negotiations of all-time.  Still don’t get what any of the players involved were thinking.  In the end he got pretty much the same contract he was offered last year.  That’s not relevant though.

Why does he insist on sticking jabs at Boston.  Here are a couple of his quotes:

“Hey, I made my money already,” Ramirez said. “I’m in a happy place, where I wanted to be. Actually, I won. I won getting out of there, because I’m in a great place.

“Sometimes it’s better off to have a two-year deal in a place that you’re going to be happy than have an eight-year deal in a place that you’re going to suffer,” he said.

I know that his relationship with the Boston media was um, less than stellar.  His relationship with the fans though, well the majority of them, never wavered.  He was loved in Beantown.  For god sakes he helped win two titles and was MVP in ’04.

Good Times

Good Times

The man was a one-player wrecking crew.  Clutch as could be and absolutely killed the Yanks.  A player could not have had a more successful run for a team.  Plus he formed one of the greatest one-two punches ever with Papi.

Bromance baby!!

Bromance baby!!

One could argue, so I will, that Manny could have been the greatest big time free agent(4+ years and 80mill+) ever.  Look at some of the signings over the past 10-15 years.  Here is the link to that list.

Consider those and then look at Manny’s years in Boston.  Like I said two world titles, The Sox franchised mushroomed into one of the best, if not the best, in the league.  A sellout streak that doesn’t look like it will end anytime.  Plus his numbers when he was with Boston where just nasty.

So lets cut out all this drama llama stuff and put it behind us.  You had a great run here, we loved you (and still do) lets let bygones be bygones.  Live and let live.  Que sera sera.  Or whatever other cheesy phrase you can come up with.  I hope he has a great year in La La Land.  NL MVP even.  Then the Sox can kick his $45 million dollar derriere in the Fall Classic and send his depressed back to Dodgertown.
