Jay: Nightclub fire

It’s hard to believe that five years have passed since The Station nightclub fire. I was working that morning, and it was probably the most numbing two hours of news I have ever done. Some of the images we aired that morning will forever be burned in the minds of those working along side me. We had one reporter out there coverage the whole scene. In between doing live shots for us, he also was providing coverage for the rest of NBC nationally. As the morning went on, he was bringing us more info and slowly we were realizing the full tragic extent of this fire. As someone who has lost a parent suddenly, my heart goes out to those kids who lost one or both parents in this preventable fire. As long and hard as that day was working, it’s not even in the same stratosphere as what these victims and their families feel everyday, and because of that they are in our thoughts today.
